Questions People Ask Before Coming In
Where exactly are you?
6526 S State Street, suite 403, in the Murray Park Plaza on the west side of State Street, just south of Fashion Place and Winchester Street (6400 South). Look for the plaza between Winchester and the I-215 ramps.
Is there parking?
Yes, free, right in front of the shop. No garage, no meters, no hunting.
Can I get there on TRAX?
Yes. The nearest station is Fashion Place West (6400 S) on the Blue and Red Lines. Walk east on Winchester Street to State Street and south a quarter mile. It's under a mile, about 15 to 20 minutes on foot, or a quick rideshare.
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes, Monday and Wednesday through Saturday, 10 to 7, first come first served, with a $100 minimum. Small and medium pieces are usually done the same day. If you want something custom or large, book a free consultation so the artist can draw it up first.
How much does a tattoo cost?
The shop minimum is $100. Bigger pieces are quoted by the hour based on size, detail and placement, and you get the number at your free consultation before anything is booked. Call or text (801) 590-9444 if you want a rough idea first.
How long will my tattoo take?
A small piece is usually an hour or two. Larger custom work is done in sessions of a few hours each, and a sleeve takes several. You'll get a realistic estimate at the consultation once the artist has drawn it up.
What should I bring?
A photo ID, since you'll sign the consent form before anything starts. Eat something beforehand, skip the alcohol the night before, and wear something that gives easy access to the spot being tattooed.
What kind of tattoos do you do best?
Japanese work is what the shop is known for: koi, dragons, hannya, full sleeves. Carlos Barrera has been tattooing for over 13 years and also does black and grey realism. Sophia does geometric, mandala and fine line. Cover-ups and reworks are a regular part of the week.
